Lydia D. Neuenschwander, 81, of Berne, Indiana passed away at 4:10 a.m. Sunday, May 23, 2010 at the Swiss Village Retirement Community in Berne.
Lydia was born on June 18, 1928 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of David P. and Katherine (Amstutz) Neuenschwander, both deceased. She married Joel A. Neuenschwander on June 6, 1954 and he survives.
Lydia was a member of the Berne Evangelical Church. She was a homemaker and enjoyed quilting.
Lydia is survived by her husband Joel Neuenschwander of Berne; a son, Mike (Martha) Neuenschwander of Berne; a son, Roger (Jenny) Neuenschwander of Berne; a son, Allen Neuenschwander of Teachey, North Carolina; a brother, Phil Neuenschwander of Berne; a brother, Alvin Neuenschwander of Berne; a brother, William Neuenschwander of Berne, a brother, Paul Neuenschwander of Berne; a brother, Howard Neuenschwander of Berne; and a sister, Maryann Beer of Linn Grove, Indiana. Other survivors include seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Lydia was preceded in death by sisters, Laura Sprunger and Caroline Neuenschwander and brothers, Simon, David, Vilas, and Daniel Neuenschwander.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May, 26, 2010 at the Berne Evangelical Church with the Pastor Kent Fahl officiating. Interment will be in the Evangelical Mennonite Church Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received from 3:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at the Swiss Village Chapel and one hour prior to the funeral service at the Berne Evangelical Church on Wednesday.
Preferred memorials are to the Berne Evangelical Church or the Swiss Village Samaritan Fund
